Abstract:In view of the limited reactive power compensation ability caused by the inherent limit of power loss in unidirectional controllable rectifier, a new solution of incorporating reactive power compensation function into unidirectional controllable rectifier is proposed in this paper. Multiple unidirectional controlled rectifiers are connected in parallel, some of which provide reactive power to the grid, while others are used to compensate for current cross zero distortion. In this way, the reactive power compensation capability of unidirectional rectifier can be effectively enhanced. This paper discusses the control strategy corresponding to the scheme in detail. The control strategy is based on finite state model predictive control, finite state system modeling, designing cost function and minimizing cost function. The simulation results verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed solution and the corresponding control method.
