For solving the problem of traditional reliability index of electronic equipment, put forward the new method for reliability design based on maintenance free operating period (MFOP). Firstly, the research and application circumstances of MFOP are briefly introduced at home and abroad. Secondly, the working process and two-step design method are researched based on MFOP. Finally, further research and application of MFOP are prospected in this paper. The research can give reference for MFOP design analysis work of domestic electronic equipment.
