Abstract:Based on the UAV Range Challenge, Aerial Robot Team of the 2016 Robocup China, the thesis puts forward a new ultra-along range strategy for electric UAVs. In order to meet the requirements of the contest and address the problem between the range of multi-rotor UAVs and their take-off weight, we design better screw drive system, high-energy density battery pack and a proposal to reduce the proportion of structure weight in accordance with the principle of a big horse drawing a small cart. We have used better materials, structure and manufacturing technique, simulated with SlidWorks and conducted experiments and comparison tests, the results which indicated that the strategy had greatly increased UAVs’ flight range. In this way, we have addressed the issue of short range of electric UAVs, providing reference for their design, manufacturing and application in a wider scope.
